Max Carlier (1872-1938)
Max Albert Carlier was born in Tourcoing, France of Belgian parents on May 25, 1872. He was a painter of flower and still life paintings, genre, animals, nudes and interiors.
Carlier worked extensively in Brussels and also traveled a great deal to Italy. He also lived for a short while in Brittany, France. He is now known as one of the finest still life painters of the Belgian school and today, his paintings are highly sought after. He is listed in the “Deux Siecles de Signature d’Artistes de Belgique”.
Carlier died in Brussels on March 2, 1938.
