Stefan Martin (1936 – 1994)
Stefan Martin, a wood engraver and illustrator, was born in Elgin, Illinois and earned his B.F.A. from the Art Institute of Chicago. He was the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, and his work has been widely exhibited. Martin was primarily a freelance artist; his wood engravings have appeared in numerous books, and in publications including Scientific American, Natural History, and The Wall Street Journal.
Stefan Martin drowned on Oct. 7 1994 in Assunpink Lake in Millstone Township, N.J. He was 58 and living in Roosevelt, N.J.
