Otto Friedrich Carl Lendecke (1886-1918)
Otto Friedrich Carl Lendecke was a painter, sculptor and illustrator. He served as an officer in the Austrian army until 1909. In 1911 he got to know the architect Josef Hoffmann in Vienna. Lendecke was in contact with Rodin and made his debut as a sculptor at the Salon des artistes francais. Through Josef Hoffman he got in contact with the Wiener Werkstätte.
He contributed a lot to its fashion fashion workshop, worked for fashion journals and executed illustrations for the “Simplizissimus”. In 1914 Lendecke moved to Budapest and in 1915 to Vienna. From now on he produced many watercolors for the fashion magazine “Die Damenwelt” and he also became its art director.
