Anna Berent (1871-1944)
Anna Berent was a Polish painter and illustrator. She studied in Munich, at the Stanisław Grocholski school and at the school of Anton Ažbè in the 1890s. In 1899 she got engaged and married Stanisław Berent, they lived in Lausanne.
The artist dealt mainly with subjects related to passing, death and old age, while the allegorical compositions were close to Scandinavian painting and the works of Ferdinand Hodler. The extensive collection of Berent’s paintings is in the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.
